GUEST CALLERS...past and present

Valerie Webster Versatile, well known caller from Bristol who has published several dances including the book “Some for my friends” with a CD to accompany it by Orion’s Ring. Also dances and choreographs with “Rostobolli”

Peggy Samuel Leader of Peggy’s Playford Plus in Bournemouth, Peggy is well known in the region as an excellent caller of all dance styles and with her many years experience in folk dancing is often consulted on new dances.

Carol and Dave Roberts Carol calls and David plays his accordion for many dancers in the region and is well known at the New Milton monthly Playford dances.

Diana Cruickshank Expert on Early English Dance, speaker on BBC radio about early dance and presenter of Rostobolli dance displays throughout the country. Diana is always welcome at Salisbury when she gives us an evening of her own selection of dances.

Steve Hunt Gifted accordionist and leader of “Orion’s Ring”, Steve has composed and recorded hundreds of hours of music and played all over the country at festivals and folk related events.

Margaret Franklin Well known caller in the Southern region from Reading, Margaret is well known for her Playford Style dance calling.  She has written and published 15 dances under the title “Margaret’s Mementoes” with an accompanying CD by Orion’s Ring.

Brian Lyons Leader of “Wiltshire Klof” band and excellent caller from Devizes well known in the area for his charity work with “Phab” and the wheelchair users dance group.

Jack Brown Well respected former leader of Salisbury club and now in demand for foreign folk dance holidays. Jack has published many folk dances and the music for them including “Stepping around Prehistoric Wiltshire” and  “First Variations”. A gifted and well qualified caller who ought not to be missed if you like interesting dances.

John Turner The well known and liked caller from Southampton who leads dance weekends and calls at many festivals around the country will give an evenings dancing to satisfy all tastes in Folk dancing. jhmturner@waitrose.com
